2Dodgers could really use an ace level pitcher to help replace Kershaw. Burnes would likely slot in at the top of the rotation along with Buehler, Miller, Yarbrough and Sheehan/Pepiot. Brewers immediately replace Burnes spot in the rotation with Grove, as well as Dodgers #2 (2B/3B Michael Busch), #8 (RHP River Ryan) and #11 (RHP Payton Martin) prospects. This trade gives them a long term replacement for Burnes, as well as an infusion of talent into their farm. Thoughts?
Brewers say the pitching is far too weak to make a deal for Burnes. They don't want Grove. He pitched like an AAAA swing man and Milwaukee has enough of those. They don't want 19 year old Martin as part of a trade for Burnes. He's too far away to be of any help. The Brewers would want to see Ryan at AAA before they traded for him.
