2I can not see the Padres doing this trade. They have Manny Machado at 3rd base and highly regarded prospect Luis Urias at 2nd base. They would have no need for these two players. The Padres are looking for a top of the rotation pitcher.
Yeah, this was more of a thought experiment than anything else. Barreto/Neuse are both very versatile defenders, though, so being blocked at 2B/3B aren't huge issues - Barreto can play the outfield, Neuse can play 1B and probably the corner outfield spots, etc. The Padres need a front line arm, but they aren't getting one back for Yates - he's only been good for a year and a half, and he only has a year and a half of control left. Again, though, I know this trade wouldn't happen, I was just kinda interested to see how the numbers would work out.
