Replacing Batten with Snell while the Orioles add Norby evens out the trade value for both the Orioles AND the Padres. With the current trade, the Orioles are at a deficit of 3.9MM while the Padres reap excess value of 5.1. The amended trade closes both gaps so the Orioles deficit would be reduced to 1.8 and the Padres excess is reduced to 3.0. The trade with Snell reduces the inequity in favor of the Padres by 2.1MM and reduces the deficit to the Orioles by 2.1MM, also. So, 4.2MM in the direction of even. Seems some people don't understand math. PS: Batten is useless for the Orioles and would never be accepted in a real life trade. The only reason he is in the original trade is a weak attempt to even the values. The amended trade does a far better job of evening the values.

You're reading this incorrectly. Orioles = Receiving 34.40, outgoing is 30.50 netting Orioles +3.90 Padres = Receiving 66.00, outgoing is 71.10 losing -5.10 Marlins = Receiving 54.70, outgoing 53.50, netting +1.20 *** Either way, I have no issues substituting Batten for a useful prospect. I get it.
