4Is this just me dreaming?
I don’t think the Rays are looking to trade Diaz. The Deadline or next off-season is more likely. If the Rays trade Diaz, it will have to be a trade with more upside than this. Larnach is fine I suppose but I think Schobel would have to be replaced with a higher upside prospect. Prielipp would certainly work, as would others.
Down vote for Minnesota, Larnach has a LOT more upside than a below average hitting 1B. The Twins are betting on Kirilloff at 1B and Larnach as a DH/OF contributing this year. And both are better hitters and younger and cheaper than Diaz
Really? Better hitters??? Diaz hit 146 wRC+ last year and is projected to hit 138 wRC+ this year. He's averaged 123 wRC+ for his career. On the other hand, Larnach barely exceeded 100 wRC+ last year, while Kirilloff has never exceeded 100 wRC+. Both are young and project to be better hitters than they have shown so far, but calling them better hitters than Diaz completely ignores reality. They'll both be lucky to hit like Diaz has.
