Anderson is the classic Giants pitcher who has a couple down seasons then goes to the Giants and becomes a CY candidate. (Rodon - 22, DeSclafini+Gausmann - 21, Cueto - 16). In addition, Shewmake could follow the Brandon Crawford late bloomer route to become the Giants next SS. Braves get a lefty platoon utility guy in Estrada to balance out Rosario if he hasn't recovered and an improvement over Adrianza and Hechevarria. Toribio could be a fast riser if he replicates his 2022 at the next level.

I'd composed a comment earlier today, got called away, and ended up losing the post. I'll try to recreate it here, though time is short for me right now. I really dig this trade idea. It's just not a good fit for me. I agree that Ian Anderson might be in that mold of guys that go to SFG and improve. However, Anderson's much younger and less experienced. All that I've looked into so far regarding Ian Anderson's stuff is that he has a drop off greater than most SP's after hitters have seen him and I don't think it's spin rate, velocity or control. I'm just someone who loves baseball and data. My point to make here is that Anderson has flashed some top tier talent and his contract is worthwhile for the Braves. Dany Gilbert Kiti Toussaint was my guy for a few years. He was a bit more of a thrower and I skew my cheering towards a more cerebral guy like Michael Soroka. I'm not sure where Anderson's at between those two and I'm not so sure that us fans will see answers in ST. I'm big into Their Estrada. Dude got shot several years back, the surgery was maybe not so good and he had the bullet in his leg for several months. He's also Venezuelan. I like the guy's upside a lot. He's out of options so on the Braves he'd have to be better than Grissom or a bench guy. I'm interested in revisiting this idea of the Braves trading for him midseason if SS is a hole, but that's not the future I want. Estrada could be blow up and be reaching for a 20/20 season even in Oracle Park. I like the comp between Shewmake and Crawford. I admire Brandon Crawford. I see Shewmake as a utility guy and more like Jace Peterson. I'm not going to pretend to know a thing about Toribio or Benitez. Those values are a near wash so it's cool by me to just pass that by. I'm curious to know why they're in this trade. I'm only bothering to see their values and positions. As a Braves fan, I'd rather not see them do this trade. I'm rolling with the investment in Grissom at SS and I believe the team should continue to give support to Ian Anderson. I like Estrada a lot but he's not solving problems that the Braves have. I like him better than I like Grissom right now but just not the solution.

See my username to know I'm also a Braves fan. I'm not out on Anderson, and I actually think his value could be higher by the end of April. However, my initial thought was that I could see Anderson being the odd man out. Since he is young, he does still have decent value due to controllable years and age. Then I thought that he profiled well as a classic Giants miraculous recover pitcher. So I looked through the Giants trade options and preferred Estrada because I view him as a strong candidate for a breakout, and he profiles decently at 2B/SS/LF, with almost 60 career innings at 3B as well (not great innings though). I don't see him as competing with Grissom for the job. I would hope for him to be a Prado/Culberson style super-utility guy that can cover several different holes while actually being a good bat. Regarding Benitez and Toribio, it's a young talent for even younger talent swap with slightly different positions. Toribio is a 22 year old 1B/3B prospect that was a highly rated prospect coming into 21 (after the COVID cancelled season), but fell flat in 21. Last year he started to show some power at the High A level. The Braves have organizational filler, but not really any prospects at the AA and AAA level for 1B or 3B. David McCabe spent most of 22 at single A so he'll probably be in the mix at AA/AAA 1B fairly soon. So Toribio would fill that spot at 3B. Benitez is a Venezualan prospect who is only 17 and had a rough first pro season. He's drawn comps to Manny Machado. Honestly the main reason I picked him was to make it exactly even on the simulator. lol Another team I could see doing a miraculous turnaround for Anderson is Cleveland. I was going to explore that trade next.
