Thought Process: Cardinals are in dire need of starters. Their division is, in many eyes, still theirs for the taking. They have a loaded OF and with the previous transgressions regarding O'Neill this season, he may be considered the odd man out. Especially with the limited playing time he would receive with the likes of Nootbaar, Burleson, Mercado, Walker and Carlson (though struggling, is younger and contains more years of control). Guardians, assuming they continue where they stand, will look to see if Bieber will command more at the deadline versus this winter (Rosenthal ESPN+ article). As the market currently stands, starting pitchers on the block is relatively thin, resulting in higher value for someone like Bieber. O'Neill has shown a good deal of power which is lacking heavily in this lineup. His defensive prowess can be shifted to other OF spots depending on Kwan and Brennan's production at the corner spots. Cleveland would also receive Hence, a top 100 prospect, with a higher prospect rating than Bieber had. And a middle IF prospect in Mejia to help solidify value. Cardinals overpay in this situation would be to offset the underproduction O'Neill has currently shown this season, while knowing the potential ceiling he has to offer as MLB ready talent. He would also be an easier extension candidate for a budget friendly team as Cleveland, if he pans out well.

Cleveland has no want for O'Neill to be honest... He's had one good season and hasn't even been healthy since, plus has little team control. Sorry, but O'Neill is a sure bet no from Cleveland who doesn't have to trade Bieber.

You're not going to get Bieber, or any other Cleveland SP with O'Neill. He isn't very good, he isn't healthy and he'll be reaching FA when they are really ready for a playoff run. He's just not a fit for Cleveland.
