3Brewers say no thanks. They don't want Barrosa, another OF. Melendez is still in A and hard to evaluate. Jameson is a long man and Milwaukee has plenty of those. Pfaadt was pretty bad in AAA and has been even worse in the big leagues. There just isn't anything close to enough for Milwaukee to trade Burnes.
Jameson to me looks like a 4 inning max guy. I am not convinced on Pfaadt until he shows he can pitch to better competition. Certainly not as the major piece in a trade for Burnes. Baroosa is no help. Melendez so far looks pretty good, but is still way down in A+. If this is the best the Brewers could get midterm, then just keep Burnes until the end of the season. I agree with Warmbath that I don't think Milwaukee would trade him until then anyways.
I strongly disagree I think IRL Jameson and Pfaadt would get the deal done. AAA stats for the d-backs are pretty useless they are in the PCL and have one of the worst home parks in all the minors. Jameson still likely a good five and dive starter long term and Pfaadt is probably on the best arms they are going to get in any midseason Burnes deal. I'd still think the Brewers hold Burnes until the offseason before trading him but I think a package like this is the most likely. We saw with the Hader trade the wanted to prioritize getting Rogers back to keep the team competitive D-back fit this model the best. Dodgers probably aren't dealing Bobby Miller anymore so their arms package would consist of Sheehan and Stone. Padres Angels Astros Mets Yankees O's have zero arms that fit a deal. Rays aren't likely to deal Taj Red Sox same with Bello would Seattle give up Miller Woo I doubt it. Twins would be parting with Varland+ so thats possible but much less ceiling. Don't see Cleveland Miami spending the $ on Burnes. Toronto has Teidmann but he has been hurt ditto for Philly and Painter. Atlanta could throw literally every last thing they own with AS-S and Grissom but would they go that scotched earth on the farm system? Rangers arms in Winn White have struggled. If a mid season trade happens the Brewers would 100% want MLB starter back.
