2Who pairs with Gimenez in the middle infield with Rocchio gone? I guess I could live with it, but I am really high on Rocchio. Ward has struggled this year.
Arias gets the first shot. He's got the highest ceiling with Rocchio gone. Arias has been good vs RHP and horrible vs LHP. Hopefully Amed is gone by the deadline so this can work. If you want the safe option, go with Freeman. With Rocchio gone, you have Arias, Freeman, and Brito all battling for one spot. Angel Martinez too if he can turn it around. Freeman and Brito profile as a 2b, Arias SS. Gimenez can play both so it shouldn't matter who would win the starting job. I am for trading Rocchio with Bieber if it can really push this team over the top on offense. I think this trade does it. You're right that Ward has struggled this year but I believe he can turn it around. He's been a little unlucky last year. He had a 137 wRC+ which is an outlier in his career but I think he ends up being around a 115 wRC+. He's been bad vs LHP this year but previous two years he's been above average vs them. Solid defender too. Vargas I envision going to LF and moving Kwan over to CF. I don't know how good he is out there but he got time out there last year in the minors and majors. I know the issue some have with trading Bieber is inning restrictions for the young guys, that's why I have two pitchers coming back that I believe can contribute to Cleveland this year. Stone has been bad this year but was good the two previous years. I would bet that he bounces back. Sheehan should be put in triple a immediately. Inning restrictions shouldn't be an issue, it takes creativity and planning though. Piggybacking Morris with Bibee/Allen, Quantrill with Bibee/Allen, Gaddis with them could all work and limit innings. Sending one of the kids to the pen could also work.
