One of the Boston writers said the Sox have interest in Diaz. Diaz is still owed about 12 million. If the Sox send Kluber, who is still owed about 7 million, the Red Sox get their guy, and the A's save about 2 or 3 million over the next year and a half.

Not sure why Kluber is not even more negative in value. If Diaz is neg 11.5 and is still owed 12, while Kluber is neg 3.7 but still owed 6 or 7, and both have been super bad.

Kluber has a better track record, and the demand for any pitching at the deadline is always stronger than the demand for a replaceable utility infielder. A few washed-up older pitchers like J.A. Happ and Jon Lester were traded for more than you might have expected in previous years.

Hi Thanks for the answer, and it is understandable. I find it interesting that this theory makes it into you value equation. Along a similar line A's catcher Pina is only -.5 value, while he has been hurt all year, and payed 4 million? While Kemp is .-7, has not been hurt and is payed a little less, thus Pina might be a chip, if he can just get health, because he is a veteran catcher, thus having more value than a veteran utility guy. thanks again
