14Nate, Cleveland needs right-handed hitters with pop as Cleveland struggles greatly with lefties. Thomas, the lead piece in your proposal, is another left-handed hitter that can't hit lefties .050 Ave .050 slugging, .145OPS. How does that help the Guardians?
I asked you a legit question and your responded with name calling which shows to me that you are incapable of having a legitimate discussion. That is always how it is with you. You provoke and name call and then accuse the other person. I am done wasting my time with you. I did not comment on the other two players because your trade proposal was already dead, in my opinion, with Thomas being the lead piece. Common sense tells me that if you have needs as an organization, you try to address them if you trade your best asset. I hope you have a wonderful day and summer. You are not worth getting aggravated over.
You told me I wasn't "capable of having a conversation" (anyone would read that as "stupid") because of something I never said... it was something you obviously misread and misinterpreted. Normally, I'd be baffled that you can't see the irony in that, but I should probably consider the source. Let me summarize why your myopic view of "he doesn't fit a need" is absurd, in a way that you can understand (even then, not holding my breath): If the Guardians are trading Shane Bieber at the deadline, it's because they are no longer focused on 2023. They are focused beyond 2023... where they can trade OTHER players to get the fill the right-handed hitter voids they currently have. Alek Thomas would be a tremendous fit for any team, especially one that is looking for controllable talent, as Cleveland is. Getting over 16 years of solid, controllable talent for 1.5 years of Shane Bieber would be an absolute haul for a team like Cleveland.... especially when TWO (2) of those players are MLB-ready talents that can be plugged in right now. Again, you'd do well to think long-term, not for 2023.
Good trade suggestion... You have to really be in tuned with what the DBax are doing to fully understand that these two position player guys are dangerous hitters while Drey Jameson has versatility with elite ability.. This is a deal that can/should be made by the Guardians without ever looking back..
You guys can go back and forth all you want, but Thomas is not a fit in Cleveland. If they trade Bieber, the return will benefit the Guardians much in the same way the Clevinger trade did. Otherwise, they'll wait until the offseason to get a deal done. Reality suggests the Dodgers would destroy this offer. Especially if the word gets out that the DBacks are bidding for Bieber. You'd be playing right into Cleveland's hand. Vukovich is a decent prospect, but his AA numbers aren't all inspiring. While I like him and he would fit in Cleveland's system, he's not what you focus on when trading a SP like Bieber. Jameson will get ran out of Cleveland's rotation in short order and any of Pepiot, Sheehan, Stone, Nastrini and Frasso are much better SP than Jameson. Cleveland should never consider this deal let alone "look back" at it with any kind of glee.
If Cleveland is offered two controllable, MLB-ready assets for Shane Bieber, they should probably accept it, regardless of how they might "fit" the team in 2023.
Why should Cleveland accept assets that they do not need? That makes no sense to me. There will be other teams interested in Bieber if he is available that might better meet their needs.
Perhaps next time you want to insult someone by saying they are "incapable of having a conversation", you might want to brush up on your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
Natedub123 don't waste your time. That's just how he is. Just ignore him. He needs to be right all the time.
Don't be so myopic. When you get 5 years of controllable talent, you're not that worried about how they might fit your team in 2023. Good teams get good players and worry about the "fit" later. If the Giants had a reasonable chance to land Ohtani, I promise you, Joc Pederson's existence at DH wouldn't matter one bit. You're getting 5 years of Alek Thomas. 5 years of Drey Jameson. 6+ years of Vukovich... if you think another team would come close to matching this, then you're already confirming what we already know...
Obviously Ohtani is much better than Pederson so that is a given. The Giants would improve by the move. The same can not be said with Thomas. Thomas adds nothing that improves the Guardians. 5 years means nothing if it does not improve the team or fill a need. Thomas does not add anything that they don't already have. Comparing Thomas to Ohtani just shows you are incapable of having a baseball conversation. You have confirmed that as usual. Your trade proposal and your illogical response have been rejected.
LOL. I never compared Thomas to Ohtani. It was merely a point of proving that you shouldn't avoid making a good move for your team because you can't see an immediate fit right now. What's interesting is that you've all but ignored the addition of Drey Jameson, who is very good, and the addition of A.J. Vukovich, who is... wait for it... a right-handed hitter (and close to league-ready)!!! Instead, you obsessed over literally one player in this trade because he doesn't fit immediately.
"That makes no sense to me" Somehow, I get the sense that this happens to you a lot... things not making any sense to you.
Alek Thomas = Will Brennan for the most part... Their profile is too close to make this deal... I am not talking about pure talent. I am talking about, if they are trading Bieber, on paper, they have what they need and Alek Thomas isn't that. They would still have to make another trade to stay competitive if they lose Bieber and get nothing back that helps them now since Thomas wouldn't...
