2This is an interesting trade and value-wise seems fair. I get why Cardinals fans don't like this trade. They don't really want to accept a full blown reset. But they probably should. Twins fans don't seem to like it because we're giving up 2 very talented young pitchers for a 35 year old slugger who, while he's coming off a National League MVP season, has regressed this season. Never a good sign in your age 35 season. However, Goldschmidt is a better hitter than anyone currently in the Twins lineup. I have a trade up on the board that brings the Twins Goldy, Arenado and a significant cash outlay from St. Louis to mitigate taking on Arenado's salary for Varland, Winder and Miranda. At this time, I wouldn't want to give up Festa.
Agree. Would add a lot to a Twins team with a pitching staff that has been carrying them all season. I like your trade even more. I'm not sure where Cards fan are on their team. From the looks of their roster, they have immediate replacements already on the roster. Not proven ones I get that. Freeing up that much payroll for FA pitchers for this offseason seems like a big plus. The names probably require an overpay, whatever that might be.
