No cash would be involved. Phils get an instant power shot in the middle of the lineup someone to make you think twice about putting in a lefty against Bryce Harper and he's also one of the greatest defensive 3rd baseman of all time and oh yeah he is Mike Schmidt's favorite player. The Phillies also get 2 "luxury" rentals although Montgomery can be seen as insurance and pretty solid insurance might actually have a shot to move up in the rotation late in the year if others fail to perform so could be valuable. Hicks is flat out luxury because the back end of the bullpen is already pretty good when healthy but adding Hicks does make the bullpen absolutely lethal. Playoff injection for the Phils but...at a price and rightfully so. Now go out and get Grichuk! Cardinals get a starter in Sanchez that has a ground ball rate in the 50's and seems to have a really nice chanegup and had a really nice start last outing against a good Orioles team and is only 26, he presents risk for both sides but quite frankly if he continues to pitch the way he is Montgomery is an immediate downgrade. Cards Get McGary who has a big arm and i think is ready he'll probably have his bumps and bruises as he gains confidence in the majors but thats fine in a year where you just traded Nolan Arenado lol but he has alot of potential i think he will atleast be a bullpen guy with a big arm basically a replacement for Hicks although not as good as this version of Hicks. Alec Bohm is a really good hitter and a really improved defender it is literally impossible not to love Alec Bohm such a clutch guy and a piece I wouldn't move for just anything he's definitely a piece that keeps you in winning mode for next season and if hes not your cup of tea you just trade him but thats not going to happen not unlike this trade scenario. Rojas is going to play great defense and steal you 30 bags, he's 23. Estantista just sounds like a Cardinal and is 21 sits in the mid 90's could develop. Fair trade imo has the chance to be a clunker for both teams though could be an absolute L for the Phillies. I don't think the Cards trade Arenado though i just like to dream.
