2I think he would defiantly go but they wouldn’t send cash
The Angels are going to have to send a large amount of cash to the Phillies to acquire the level of prospects that the fan base will desire to part ways with Trout. Trout is owed $245 million remaining on his contract, so the Angels pay around 75% remaining. Trout’s contract should be a sunk cost, meaning that money is already spent either way…so the Angels actually save $65 million & get 3 tremendous prospects back to begin their rebuild. It is the same trade model that the Mets achieved this trade deadline, “buying prospects” & paying down a large amount of cash to acquire elite prospects for both Verlander & Scherzer.
