I understand this trade, just not this year. The Padres are trying to make it the playoffs, their team is getting older and Soto won't be here for much longer, this is a win now team with not a lot of ok players, its bad or really good. So maybe next year or in the off-season but not now. I also find it hard to believe that the tigers can afford Soto, or that Soto will want to stay in Detroit, he turned the nats offer down for a reason. Also there is the slim chance that the Padres go all in and try their best to resign Soto.
