9Real trade. Lee's value has been declining over time, and seems to be even lower in real life than the algorithm presumed.
As an Astros fan, I think the White Sox won this trade. I understand it from the Astros point of view…but I think Lee has the chance to be a really solid starting MLB catcher.
I think the White Sox have won all 3 trades so far.

Agree!
I disagree, gentlemen. Lee has clearly plateaued at AAA, and his offensive numbers are below average there. It was clear the Astros FO didn't think Lee was a future starter when Cesar Salazar beat him out for a spot on the 26-man roster. And if I--random dude on the internet could figure that out--I presume front offices filled with professionals could do the same.
Agree with Fire. Lee, imo, is a career #2 at catcher. Both Salazar and Diaz have beat him outright for spots on the big league club and his value has done nothing but go down since his MLB debut. Astros gave up a rapidly declining catching prospect for what is a top priority right now, a solid piece in the back of the bullpen who also happens to be under contract for 2023 AND 2024. This is a solid move.
Incorrect, they wanted Lee to get everyday AB’s even if that was in AAA because they didn’t want to stunt his development offensively in the majors by not playing everyday. Lee was in the majors in ‘22 briefly by the way before other catching options Yainer Diaz & Cesar Salazar. Astros GM Dana Brown literally said Salazar is more of a “backup type” catcher at the MLB level whereas Korey Lee has the chance to be a front line guy so we want make sure he gets consistent ABs this season.
