4Whisenhunt and Harrison were both Top 10 draft talent pieces the Giants got in 2nd and 3rd rounds, respectively. I don't see an avenue where the Giants trade either. They are both likely to be slotted into the rotation in 2024, if not next season.
Then they don't want Reynolds. Pirates only need pitchers, and maybe an outfielder or first baseman, thus the proposed trade. What would you offer?
The idea that they "don't want Reynolds" because they aren't willing to give up one of the best pitching prospects is beyond ludicrous. Of course they want Bryan Reynolds, but they aren't paying that price. If the Giants offered something, a package surrounding Luis Matos and Will Bednar would be the start. (Bednar is from Pittsburgh and his brother is the Pirates' closer). A few other pitchers and possibly someone like Patrick Bailey. It likely wouldn't get accepted, but the Giants are paying the price you're suggesting here. And if you think they would, you haven't been paying attention.
Your points are well thought out, but I believe the Pirates only want top pitching as they did with both the Marlins and the Yankees, thus they still haven't made a trade. They have several top pitching prospects themselves but want good MLB ready (or near ready) pitchers. Looks like a trade is not in the cards. Bednar doesn't move the needle.
