Looking like the Rays are going to leave Tampa Bay. There is zero reason to put a winning product in a minor league stadium to keep a fan base content that you are losing anyways. Sell it all, stockpile minor leaguers, arrive in your new home with the savings to sign a big FA and tons of young talent. Sad end to the Rays, but the St Pete commissioners have reneged on the funding and the Rays owe St Pete nothing.

Hard to argue any of this with you. I'm pretty bummed, but it seems like the end of the Rays in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area. It's kind of funny how it's ending too, with a county commissioner bought and paid for by the Phillies killing the Rays in St. Pete so the Phillies can get a better minor league stadium. Anyway, as for this trade, i would steer clear of Horton with his shoulder issues.

I'm in Tallahassee, so I don't follow much of their local politics. Plus, I can't read about any politics right now, and am just focused on getting my family's vaccines up to date before they're replaced with raw milk and an herbal remedy. I'm putting out feelers to try to get out of Florida. It's a fucking cesspool. Asheville might have some cheap mountain land soon, and that state more aligns with my values than the fuckwits we keep electing. If we're going to elect fascist, I won't be paying taxes in their recruiting grounds. If the Rays leave for Charlotte, Asheville will look even better. I'm almost rooting for it, although I spent 10 years in Pinellas, love the area and the memories, and the Rays are the only reason I go back. The last month has been incredibly sad for sane Rays fans.

I thought drinking a shot of bleach every night before bed was the way to stay healthy.

Shaq and MP Sorry for your loss. This trade sucks for Cubs. Shaw is the best hitter in minors and the next ROY/MVP for Cubs. Western North Carolina is a great place to live. We were all shocked by Helene, but events like that can happen anytime anywhere.

I'm of the opinion McClanahan is a top 10 pitcher in the game. Same category as Cole, Sale, Cease, Snell, Ragans, and Burnes, just a tier below Skenes, deGrom, and Skubal. 3 arb eligible seasons of that guy...no prospects are off the table. If Shaw is unavailable, you can give Snell or Burnes $250 million instead of McClanahan $20 million over 3 years. Knowing the Ricketts family, they are not spending money.

Or I can give Scott 33M/3 yrs. and address the real Cubs problem. Lack of a reliable closer. Possibly Holmes. Maybe add Buehler for 12-15M. Oh, Sasaki might look good in a Cubs uni. No thanks. Keep McClanahan. I'll keep Shaw. Ballersteros, too. Alcantara is available if you're interested in dealing.

They're currently trying to trade Bellinger's salary. The Cubs have acted like a rebuilding team 11 of the last 15 years. They aren't going to address their needs through free agency. That Trump loving owner who's never made a dollar for himself and lives off family money treats it as a piggy bank.

You're not going to find me defending Ricketts, or Hoyer, and it has nothing to do with politics. I agree Ricketts has had everything handed to him, just like Trump got a nice nest egg to start. Doesn't mean he should spend wildly. I think he got soured by the Heyward deal, with good reason. Cubs should have gone after Greinke, or Price, instead, but that's ancient history. I'm sure that's why he and Theo bumped heads. Jed is a yes-man. To his credit, he got Imanaga, but then blew it on Hector Neris. The reason Cubs have missed the playoffs the last 2 years is the lack of a reliable closer. Their last one was Chapman for a half-season in 2016. Then you have to go back to Sutter and Smith before that. Not even sure Tanner Scott is the guy. So, when are you moving out of the country?
